My name is Richard Versocki and I am the founder and CEO of Archetype Tables.
I have been working with wood for over 30 years, and have studied with master craftsmen such as Michael Fortune, Matthew Hill, Grit Laskin, and Frank Strazza. While developing my craft professionally over the past decade, my understanding of woodworking was literally transformed by the late Sam Maloof. It was through Sam’s work that I began to understand that the purpose of my craft was not simply to make furniture, but to find ways to create deep and lasting relationships between the materials, the object, the maker, and the owner. This is what creates the magic.
Archetype Tables are at once functional pieces of furniture, works of art that pay homage to the beauty and tradition of letterpress, and personalized time capsules that preserve the special memories of our clients. All of our tables are hand-made to order, personalized using recovered letterpress type, and signed and numbered to memorialize each table’s unique provenance. And our tables are designed and built to last lifetimes, using durable materials, natural finishes, and components that can be easily removed and restored. At Archetype Tables, we create more than furniture—we create heirlooms that can be passed down to future generations.
After more than two years of design and prototyping, I am pleased to announce the release of our inaugural table, the Archetype 1, an industrial loft-style coffee table designed by William Lidwell. We will only make 30 of these gorgeous tables, so contact us today to reserve yours. More Archetype Tables are coming soon, so please check back for our new releases.
